Jack |
February 9, 2013 |
I have known Jack during the last 15 years and mostly during holidays or family celebrations. I enjoyed the times we spent traveling to Ft. Collins and back. We mainly talked about Denver Rockies, Nuggets, and Broncos. We also had time to share stories about our dogs. Jack truly loved every dog he owned and he enjoyed all dogs in general. While visiting Brian and Bonnie on holidays and as the day turns to evening, we all were aware of Jack becoming antsy and knew it was time to head back home to make the sure the dogs were alright. I know Jack will be able to see many of his companions on a visit to dog heaven. I am lucky to have known Jack and feel honored to be his friend.

A Goodbye to Jack |

My fishing buddy, my friend!
We had such similar humble, dusty, eastern Colorado beginnings.
Through our "teacher" wives, we became acquaintances, then friends, anchored by our love of the Colorado mountains and fishing. How often we remarked to each other, "how lucky we were to live in Colorado," with no desire to live anywhere else. While driving to fishing spots with you, I learned many of our favorite mountain views. We never grew tired of talking about them. We also knew many mountain restaurants that had the best biscuits and gravy. Although we never found any as good as yours.
It was also funny how, because Bonnie didn't enjoy tennis ( she didn't like anyone to lose), that you became Mary Ann's mixed doubles tennis partner. Tennis is her love, as fishing is mine. You were a connect with both of us for a lot of years.
As I think of your passing, I visualize you at the pearly gates with a handmade sign that reads Mary Ann's favorite quote,
"Life is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting,
Holy Shit! What a Ride!"
Goodbye, my friend, keep a tight line and mend upstream.

I share his birthday - only 9 years younger - as I was born in 1941 - His parents Glen and Opal became my special friends when we moved into the neighborhood when I was 6 and I kept in touch and visited them in Golden. Here is one of the last photos I have of them - Over the years I watched Jack's successful career - knowing how proud his folks would have been if they were still here to see it.

Videographer |
February 6, 2013 |
I came to Denver as a wet-behind-the-ears videographer in 1978 to help open Telemation Productions, a video production facility which was around until about 1998. One of our first clients was JPI Productions, of course run by Jack Carver. Aside from Jack's technical expertise, creativity and overall knowledge of the business, the main thing I remember about Jack was his personality. At that time we had a clerical staff, management personnel and production people and one of the main unwritten rules was when we were in production with a client, everyone except the people involved in the production stayed clear of the studio and the edit bay until the job was finished. But this rule definitely did not apply to Jack Carver. It seemed like everyone in our modest facility on E. Iliff was drawn to Jack as if to a magnet. And that describes his personality, magnetic. The whole staff, it seemed, would come into the studio to say hi to Jack and in turn, he seemed to know everyone's name, and had a personal greeting for everyone on the staff, from Receptionist to General Manager. Additionally, any clients we had in the facility would naturally gather around Jack as well. He knew everyone and everyone knew Jack.
Amazingly enough, I'm still in the business 30+ years later and the company I do quite a bit of work for, Altitude, is now headed by his daughter Kim. It seems as if almost no time has passed since I worked with Jack until I met Kim, but the mirror says something different. Of course, no one could have been a better mentor for Kim than Jack.
I've worked with literally thousands of people in almost 40 years in my chosen field of Video Production and in a business filled with intelligent people, Jack was among the smartest. In a field with many creative people, Jack was among the most creative, and finally, in a business filled with stars and even superstars, Jack's star shone the brightest! Rest in Peace, Jack.

Jack...the later years |
February 5, 2013 |
Jack, to my dear friend and sports confidant. It's been wonderful playing tennis with you as a partner for many years although getting around the court for all of us became a little more difficult as the years went on. You were always able to adapt your game to get the most of what you had. I will never forget your forehand slice shot that always seemed to catch us all off guard.
My condolences and Love to Bonnie, Tony, Gracie and all the rest of the family !
